Our Bike Trac team had a rare moment in the spotlight earlier this month, as new BBC1 series, Thief Trackers, featured not one but two high profile recoveries that utilised our motorcycle tracker.
Initially inspired by our now legendary 2014 Lithuanian recovery, the BBC1 show featured a recreation of the audacious theft that resulted in a stolen Ducati 899 being tracked and recovered in Lithuania, while the Bike Trac team also featured in a recovery filmed live on location in a subsequent episode.
Our very own Bill Taylor who featured throughout the BBC1 filming, commented, “While the Lithuania recovery is an exciting story and one we are very proud of, we were lucky enough to be filming segments for this for Thief Trackers when we received notification of another bike being stolen.
"With the film crew present, we had the perfect opportunity to showcase exactly how tracking technology works, and went on the hunt. It wasn’t long before we managed to track the stolen BMW down and with the help of the Police the recovery was made, as were arrests too, all on camera. A great example of how effective tracking really is.”
The Bike Trac episodes of Thief Trackers were shown on 1st and 2nd October 2015 and are now available on the BBC iPlayer (episodes four and five).
In 2015 alone, Bike Trac has recovered 120 stolen machines, with a monetary value of over £1 million.
